Mark Millar is moving his creator-owned imprint, known as Millarworld, from Image Comics to Dark Horse. The imprint is home to some of the writer’s most popular titles like Wanted, Jupiter’s Legacy, and Kick-Ass. While Image Comics maintained the publishing rights to these issues as they were adapted to feature films and Netflix series, Dark Horse is taking over. Alongside the change of venue, Dark Horse also announced that reprints and oversized versions of several of these fan-favorite series will be coming soon.
Mark Millar’s New Home
Mark Millar announced the Millarworld movement on his social media. He shared that the entire catalog, including those made during his time with Netflix, will be settling in at Dark Horse Comics. That is over 20 franchises and 40 graphic novels. Plus, a bunch of hardcover Omnibus Editions of Millarworld titles are in the works. This move is a dream come true for Millar, who has been a Dark Horse fan since the beginning. Not to mention, many of Millar’s friends in the business are also settled in at Dark Horse.
The collaboration between Mark Millar and Dark Horse is set to begin in 2024. It all starts with five new titles for Millarworld released throughout the year. One of those titles will be Millar’s Nemesis: Rogue’s Gallery. This title, with art from Valerio Giangiordano, follows the villain Nemesis from the Big Game miniseries.
What Comes Next
Dark Horse Comics president Mike Richardson admitted to being a fan of Mark Millar’s work for years. So, to bring Millarworld into the Dark Horse home is nothing short of a dream come true, especially with Millar’s ability to create a world and characters that immediately resonate with readers.
As part of this new collaboration, Dark Horse Comics is bringing Library Editions of several of Millar’s works to readers in 2024. This includes Volumes 1 and 2 of The Magic Order, Nemesis: Reloaded, Night Club Volume 1, Wanted & Big Game, and The Ambassadors.
