Avengers: Endgame is quickly approaching and Marvel Studios has released their first featurette for the upcoming sequel. Fans are treated to studio head Kevin Feige as well as a few of the still standing avengers discussing whatโs next:
โImagine if, for the first time, our heroโs all lost,โ says RDJ. Mr. Downey, watching our favorite heroes fall is something we donโt have to imagine. Witnessing the likes of Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Groot all ash away in front of our eyes was exceptionally gut-wrenching. Now with Avengers: Endgame, itโs time to put the pieces back together and fight back.
The featurette doesnโt offer anything new in terms of footage but does have some interesting insight from Feige and Co. Feige talks about the massive fan reaction to the end of Infinite War and the emotional attachment made with all of these characters. Marvel has spent over a decade crafting this cinematic universe and the dedication among fans is immense. Not only did we lose some of our favorites, but the ones who remain have lost hope.
โThey truly leveled us, not just literally, but morally and emotionally,โ says Chris Evens,ย as he drives home the fact that they are broken. Itโs tough to watch your heroes beaten and lost. This is what the audience has to come to terms with at the end of Infinity War. It’s not just about how our favorites will come back, but how will those left behind find themselves again.
As Robert Downey Jr puts it, they arenโt used to losing and we the fans arenโt used to seeing such immense failure. This is Hollywood of course, and everything will work itself out in the end. Itโs the how and why of it all that will keep us on our toes until Avengers:ย Endgame is released on April 26th.
