Marvel Rivals Is Getting Two Surprise Superheroes During Its Beta

The superhero-charged Overwatch competitor, Marvel Rivals, is currently in closed beta with some lucky individuals already playing the PvP shooter. Netease has just announced that Jeff and Thor are coming to the gameโ€™s roster tomorrow. The two new heroes also received a new trailer that doesnโ€™t show much in terms of gameplay but shows Jeff singing a song.ย

The trailer didnโ€™t show the God of Thunder in action but did reveal his design, and it isnโ€™t what you might expect. This version of Thor is a lot more bulky and older as well. Both Thor and Jeff will be playable in the Marvel Rivals closed beta on July 27.

With Thor, we can have some expectations, he will use his Mjolnir in battle and thunder will definitely rain upon his enemies, but when it comes to Jeff, all we have are singing abilities and sharp teeth. Players are excited to see the surprise additions to the roster and find out more about which roles they will fill.

The beta started on July 24 and will end on August 5, so there is still a lot of time for closed beta testers to give Thor and Jeff a fair shake. The closed beta already had 20 playable heroes, and with the addition of Thor and Jeff, this is likely near the complete list of heroes we will see upon the gameโ€™s release, give or take a couple.

Here are the 22 characters currently playable in the Marvel Rivals closed beta and if you’re starting out, check out the 5 best beginner characters here:

  • Adam Warlock
  • Black Panther
  • Doctor Strange
  • Groot
  • Hela
  • Hulk
  • Iron Man
  • Loki
  • Luna Snow
  • Magik
  • Magneto
  • Mantis
  • Namor
  • Peni Parker
  • Punisher
  • Rocket Raccoon
  • Star-Lord
  • Storm
  • Scarlet Witch
  • Spider-Man
  • Venom
  • Jeff
  • Thor

Marvel Rivals also got a new cinematic trailer that shows all the playable characters in the game and vague hints about the setting. You can watch the full trailer below:

We currently donโ€™t have a release date for Marvel Rivals, but once the closed beta test ends and we get an open beta, we will likely hear more about the launch date. We do know, however, that it is coming on PlayStation 5, Xbox One X|S, and PC via Steam.
