Keeping things fair and balanced in a PvP game is often one of the hottest topics for both the community and the developers. Marvel Rivals players, however, seem to have a different kind of ‘balance’ in mind. With the release of new superheroes and the rather ‘revealing’ Sue Storm Malice skin, some Marvel Rivals players have given the male superhero character skins what they deem as fair and similar treatment.
For reference, here’s what the Sue Storm/Invisible Woman Malice skin looks like:
The ‘steamy’ gesture initially came from Reddit user u/Artistic_Arm_248. The Marvel Rivals fan and player drew up a rough imagining of a more revealing skin for Loki. It was a playful response to the Malice skin design, and how Loki would look if the devs treated him the same.
Surprisingly (or unsurprisingly), the thread was in unanimous agreement that it’s fitting for Loki and something the shapeshifting gender-fluid Norse god would wear. He is a trickster god, after all. This is one of the most upvoted comments.
“Not NEARLY enough slutty outfits for the guy who literally seduced a horse to stop a construction project (it was the only way, I swear),” as explained by Reddit user u/Incubus_is_I
Lo and behold, other artists and art appreciators chimed in and even presented their examples and takes for more generous male superhero skins in Marvel Rivals. The most notable one was a redesign for Reed Richards or Mr. Fantastic where his tight suit was turned into a dancing leotard. Now Mr. Fantastic can stretch more without chafing.
It’s worth noting that some of the male superheroes in Marvel Rivals have already received some similar treatment though with less skin shown. The most notable ones are Venom, Spider-Man, and Captain America (lore accurate, just ask Tony Stark).
Of course, the final decision for such skins and skin suggestions from other players still lies with developer NetEase Games. Regardless Marvel Rivals remains one of the top-selling games on Steam due to cosmetics, coming up behind behemoths like Counter-Strike 2 and PUBG.
