The much-anticipated X-Men relaunch, From the Ashes, is rapidly approaching and Marvel is getting fans hyped for what’s to come. The House of Ideas has already revealed that the new era of mutants will center on three “flagship” X-titles. Each title will focus on a group of X-Men as they navigate a post-Krakoa world and include a relaunched X-Men from Jed MacKay and Ryan Stegman. The other series are Uncanny X-Men from Gail Simone and David Marquez and Exceptional X-Men from Eve Ewing and Carmen Carnero. It all kicks off in MacKay and Stegman’s X-Men and Marvel, which is giving fans a taste of what to expect from this new series.

For the past few weeks, Marvel has slowly been teasing what readers will find in this new era for mutants. Now, we are getting the biggest details yet on what we will find in the upcoming X-Men, which is the entryway into this From the Ashes era. Jed MacKay and Ryan Stegman’s series finds Cyclops leading a new team of mutants out of a secret Alaskan base. This new team includes Beast, Magneto, Psylocke, Magik, Kid Omega, Temper (formerly Oya), and Juggernaut. However, this rag-tag group of mutants is not important for this series. One of the biggest changes that came from the end of the Krakoan Age was Cyclops’ new approach to mutant/human relations.

With Krakoa gone, the mutants of the Marvel Universe are more vulnerable than ever. Plus, with the mutant population scattered all over, this new X-Men team needs to be powerful enough to stop any threats before they spread to other mutants. That is why this new team is stacked with some of the most powerful mutants. While Cyclops is generally about peace and co-existing with humans, it seems he is now ensuring that his team is strong enough to make sure humans won’t mess with them. It is less about finding common ground and more about surviving this From the Ashes landscape.

A New Era

While Marvel hasn’t given away too much about the other series leading this new age. Though it may be safe to assume that readers will see similar attitudes from their favorite X-Men. The current Fall of X event is destroying the safe harbor of Krakoa and taking mutants into new territory. With three different X-Men teams and several off-shoot series, it is ramping up to be an exciting time for X-Men fans.

X-Men #1 kicks off this new mutant era on 07/10.
