The new Black Widow movie is just 10 days away from being released and we are just now getting the official poster from Marvel Studios. Playing it a little close to the chest there, Marvel? ComicBook is reposting that Marvel posted this to their Twitter exactly at noon. The new poster features an all-white costume worn by Scarlet Johansson, she of course plays the non-Russian accented Natasha Romanova or whatever alias she may be going by these days. Back in March of 2020 is when we saw the first legitimate trailer for Black Widow. She was mostly dressed in all black in that one and mostly in all black in the most recent trailer, but with the new look in Marvel Studios’ next big release, it seems like they are looking to paint Natasha in a much brighter light. Alongside her, we also see David Harbour as Red Guardian who is like the strangest combination of Hell Boy and one of my personal favorites, Captain America; and the usual crew of Yelena Belova, played by Florence Pugh, and the taskmaster in their own right, The Taskmaster.
Marvel Studios is obviously gonna handle this larger-than-life franchise with kid gloves. The last two films of Phase 2 that were released theatrically were Spider-Man: Far From Home and before that was Avengers: Endgame. Black Widow was supposed to be released back in May of 2020, then Marvel Studios pushed it to November due to Covid and now here we are, 10 days away and they finally unveil the poster. If Marvel Studios isn’t careful, they could face something they have not faced in a very long time; a lackluster box office. Highly doubtful yes, but I am a sucker for things that don’t happen very often. A flop at this point might be in their best interest, it could teach them what not to do, but let’s be honest here, it’s probably gonna make beaucoup bucks.
