In a last ditch effort to sell tickets Marvel Studios have released even more footage of the upcoming Ant-Man, opening everywhere on July 17th. At this point I think it may be possible to watch the entire movie via TV Spots and promotional material. So for those trying to avoid spoilers, don’t watch any of the following.
The first clip is part of a viral campaign featuring WHIH World News. The clip shows surveillance footage of Scott Lang breaking into VistaCorp, the break-in that sent him to prison. It’s about as interesting as watching paint dry. Thankfully Marvel released two new clips and a featurette to whet audience appetites.
There’s a brief sequence of Paul Rudd’s Ant-Man running for his life from shoes, party cups, and vacuum cleaners and we also get a look at Michael Pena’s comedic role in the movie. The featurette is short but gives us an inside look at Darren Cross aka Yellowjacket aka Corey Stoll, the film’s big bad (or little bad).
Marvel’s Ant-Man joins Jurassic World and Terminator Genysis in the long line of blockbusters spoiling their entire movie before it’s released. The strategy proved fruitful for Jurassic World but the latest in the Terminator franchise is netting numbers lower than the McG abomination Terminator: Salvation.
Will Ant-Man emerge as another Marvel success story (probably) or will it crash and burn? Do you plan to see the minuscule hero? Let us know in the comments below!
Ant-Man starring Paul Rudd, Michael Pena, and Michael Douglas has its wide release July 17th.
