Marvel’s Avengers is getting the re-launch treatment this year. After a successful five-year run under Jason Aaron, the iconic Marvel heroes are going through some big changes. Along with a re-vamped logo that brings back the 80’s arrow, a new lineup will reflect how Marvel and these characters have changed over the years. It all kicks off in Avengers #1 coming this May from Jed MacKay and C.F. Villa.
Marvel’s Avengers of 2023
When the new series launches, a new team is taking up the mantle as Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. This 2023 lineup for Marvel’s Avengers includes Captain Marvel, Iron Man, Thor, The Vision, Scarlet Witch, Black Panther, and Sam Wilson’s Captain America. While each of these heroes has been associated with the team over the years, a lot has changed since some of them worked together.
This new team is forming just in time to celebrate 60 years of Marvel’s Avengers. Writer Jed MacKay and artist C.F. Villa are ushering in a whole new age for the heroes. It is filled with grand-scale adventure and cosmic mystery, making this lineup a perfect fit. After all, several of the members spend most of their time traversing the far reaches of the galaxy.
A New Cosmic Adventure
Per BleedingCool, the new series kicks off with an adventure that sees the team embracing a new purpose. The members are gifted the knowledge of The Tribulation Events. These are a series of disasters that spark upheaval throughout the universe. Readers got a glimpse at what to expect in in last month’s Timeless. It featured Kang on a hunt for the impossible to find “Missing Moment”. However, now a new and more dangerous game is on, and the prize is beyond anyone’s imagination.
Will the Avengers be able to unravel this mystery? What is the connection between Kang and the Tribulation Events? We will find out later in May.
