Marvel’s Blood Hunt is drawing near, promising to bring gore and blood to the Marvel Universe. In fact, it is so bloody that the publisher has announced a Red Band Edition of the event. Dubbed the “bloodiest” event in Marvel Comics history, this new Red Band edition comes with a “reader discretion is advised” warning. Plus, it warns against the explicit content found within its pages. These new editions contain additional pages, come polybagged, and offer art more explicit than the original off-the-shelf issues.
Bring On The Blood
Of course, Marvel has published uncensored and “more adult-focused” comics in the past. This includes works through the publisher’s more mature imprints like Epic Comics and Marvel MAX. However, these Red Band Editions of Blood Hunt mark the first time a different, more explicit version of the same comic has been produced.
Artist Pepe Larraz was drawn to the terror of Blood Hunt when taking on the project. Now, these Red Band Editions offer the artist the chance to convey the bloodier and darker tone of this vampire story. The creative team can really flex the muscles they don’t get to with traditional superhero comics. Blood Hunt is shaping up to be the most graphic offering from Marvel in decades.
Marvel’s Blood Hunt
Marvel’s Blood Hunt is a five-issue limited series with several tie-ins and spin-offs. This vampire-focused story has been building across the Marvel Universe for years now. At the very heart of this event lies the Avengers, Blade, Bloodline, Miles Morales, Doctor Strange, Clea, and the Midnight Mission’s Tigra and Hunter’s Moon. As eternal night falls on the Marvel Universe, an army of vampires emerges from the shadows. These vampires are so dangerous because they are all united under a single vision. So, the heroes of Marvel must unite to keep this horde at bay. However, this is one fight that will leave a trail of blood in its wake.
Marvel’s Blood Hunt #1 is on sale 05/01, with a tease of the event taking place in this year’s Free Comic Book Day.
