The effects of Marvel’s Gang Wars event are about to land in Daredevil’s lap. The Woman Without Fear is about to have her hands full with a wave of crime in the Big Apple following the event. Previews for the new series, Daredevil: Gang Wars, show the ramifications of the event and how Daredevil fits into all of this. Plus, Matt Murdock may have a role to play in this new series before all is said and done.
Marvel’s Gang Wars
Marvel’s Gang Wars event kicked off in the pages of Amazing Spider-Man. It kicked off with the wedding of Beetle and Tombstone’s daughter, Janice Lincoln. During the big event, Maggia enforcer Hammerhead launched an attack that ultimately led to the death of Madame Masque. Now, the criminal underground of New York City is at each other’s throats.
This event has sent ripples throughout many of Marvel’s series. However, Spider-Man tries to rally the heroes of New York City and beyond to put an end to the crime battles plaguing the city streets. These heroes include Miles Morales, Luke Cage, Spider-Woman, and even a superpowered Mary Jane, AKA Jackpot. Now, Elektra Natchios is getting in on the crime-fighting.
A New Spinoff
The official synopsis for Daredevil: Gang Wars reveals that the former assassin turned Daredevil is recruited by Peter Parker. Alongside the other heroes, the Woman Without Fear aims to keep the mobsters and villains of the city from starting a full-blown war. Now Elektra is the only thing stopping Hell’s Kitchen from falling at the hands of a new crime gang, the Heat.
Previews for the spinoff show that Elektra has her hands full with the crime of the city. However, it also shows that Daredevil is having some issues working on a team. Readers will see Elektra struggle to find herself as a hero and as part of a team. The former assassin is used to working alone, but can she handle Marvel’s Gang Wars without a little help?
