Marvel’s Storm has had quite a journey since her debut back in 1975. The weather-manipulating mutant has gone from leader of the X-Men to Queen of Wakanda and everything in-between. Now, this week’s Scarlet Witch #2 is adding another title to Ororo Munroe: Sorceress.
Is Marvel’s Storm A Sorceress?
Per comicbook.com, the second issue of Marvel’s Scarlet Witch features a short story concerning Storm. In it, the X-Man visits Wanda at her new Emporium shop. Sadly, the reason for the visit is to inform Wanda that her father, Magneto, perished in the recent war between the Avengers, Eternals, and mutants. Once that is dealt with, the Scarlet Witch asks a favor of Storm: to accompany her on a mission.
This mission takes the powerful women to a mystical island. Here, Wanda is attempting to harvest a mystical flower. However, the daughter of Magneto seems to have another reason for the team-up. It seems she wants to convince Storm that she is also a sorceress.
As the two are attacked by some water spirits, Wanda urges Storm to channel her power through the Sisterhood of Witches and other mystical practitioners. Though skeptical, Storm does tap into the mystic arts and the duo easily dispatch their attackers. Is Storm actually a sorceress?
What Could This Mean For The X-Man?
If Storm is in fact a sorceress, this would mark a big change for the character’s history. However, it does make sense. Storm’s power of weather manipulation has always been revered as something more than your average mutant power. In fact, she is often worshipped for her mastery over the Earth’s atmosphere.
This is an interesting path to explore for Storm, especially considering how Marvel is beginning to blend the mystical and magical into the X-Men. Plus, if Storm can tap into the mystical arts, this could set up a journey for her and Wanda to resurrect Magneto and bring him back to Krakoa.
