Marvel’s X-Men is having quite the year! Not only is the animated revival, X-Men ’97, a big hit with fans, but the comics are seeing a major overhaul with the end of the Krakoan Age. Plus, the franchise is celebrating its 60th anniversary this year. So, Marvel has recruited acclaimed artist Scott Koblish to craft an epic connecting cover for some of the anticipated upcoming X-titles. The cover shows off the mutant’s 60-year publication history with a massive group shot. The shot incorporates core X-Men, as well as those from spinoffs and limited series.

Marvel’s X-Men is officially 60 years old this year. This coincides with the major relaunch, From the Ashes, that the franchise is about to undergo. However, Scott Kobish’s super-detailed focuses on the past adventures of everyone’s favorite mutants. The massive four-issue cover features a group shot of just about every mutant in Marvel history. Not only are the “main” characters, like Cyclops and Jean Grey, featured, but also the ones from one-shots, spinoffs, and limited series. You can find obscure mutants and villains from franchises like The New Mutants, X-Factor, X-Force, and more.

The wraparound kicks off on the cover of June’s X-Men #35, which is the 700th issue of the Uncanny X-Men. Following that, the remaining three pieces of the wraparound will feature on the debut issues of the From the Ashes era. This includes Jed MacKay and Ryan Stegman’s X-Men #1. Plus Gail Simone and David Marquez’s Uncanny X-Men #1 and Eve Ewing and Carmen Carnero’s Exceptional X-Men #1.

A Big Relaunch

Of course, Marvel is gearing up for a big X-Men relaunch this summer. The From the Ashes era will take over for the rapidly ending Krakoan Age. It will bring new creative teams to everyone’s favorite X-titles and a whole new mission for Marvel’s mutants. This relaunch finds the X-Men fractured and scattered all over. The new series coming along with this relaunch harkens back to major aspects of what the team has been about throughout its 60 years.

X-Men #35 and Scott Koblish’s wraparound will go on sale 06/05.
