Mary Cosby, known for Real Housewives of Salt Lake City, and her husband expressed their grief in a statement shared with PEOPLE: “Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God’s promise and in knowing he is finally at peace. We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow.”
The Salt Lake City Police Department told PEOPLE on Wednesday, Feb. 25, that they had responded to a potential overdose after receiving a call two days earlier about a “full arrest/medical emergency” involving a 23-year-old man. TMZ was the first to report the news and share the official statement.
Robert Jr. had openly battled drug addiction and suicidal thoughts, sharing in season 5 of RHOSLC that he began using prescription and recreational drugs at 16. “I couldn’t even feel it,” he admitted. He later completed a month-long rehab program, which Mary said helped him “come out a new person.” Despite these efforts, Robert Jr. faced legal troubles, including multiple arrests in 2022 and 2025, probation, and community service, all while navigating personal challenges, including a secret marriage and subsequent divorce.
Bravo also issued a statement to PEOPLE, saying, “We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Mary’s beloved son, Robert Jr. Mary is a cherished member of our family, and our thoughts, love, and deepest condolences are with her and her loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.” On Threads, Andy Cohen called the situation ‘every parent’s nightmare’.
