Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey has set off an angry wave of criticism across social media after issuing a staunch, “no limits” defense of abortion access in her state. In a social media post that quickly went viral on Monday, Governor Healey shared a video of herself signing an executive order or piece of legislation, surrounded by smiling supporters in a move that angered many local GOP.

As long as I’m Governor, abortion will remain safe, legal and accessible in Massachusetts.

Accompanying the visual, the Governor wrote:

As long as I’m Governor, abortion will remain safe, legal and accessible in Massachusetts. You have my word.

The statement, coming from the leader of the defiant blue state, was seen by many as a clear rejection of pro-life efforts nationwide and a strong push for late-term procedures, a position that deeply divided observers. The post ignited immediate and passionate responses, mirroring the intense national conversation about birth control and abortion rights.

Massachusetts Republicans Condemn Abortion Promise

Conservative and pro-life voices were quick to condemn the Governor’s rhetoric, with many decrying the practice as a moral failure. One commenter, going by the handle WooBooWeekley, reacted with visible disgust, stating, “Liberals love killing babies. You scumbags never shock me.“

The moral objections were echoed by other users, some of whom framed the debate in spiritual terms. A user, lovemypug2013, delivered a stern warning, commenting, “We all will have to stand before our Creator one day and be held accountable for our actions. Including you. This is NOT something to be proud of or clapping about.“

Another user, ChCasita, also responded with raw condemnation, writing, “GO GET YOUR ABORTIONS GIRLS BEFORE THE LINE GETS TOO LONG Baby killers!!!!!!“

“Safe for everyone except the kids it kills” replied another, and much more piled on.

The Governor’s explicit promise to maintain abortion as “safe, legal and accessible” with “my word” was interpreted by many as a signal that her administration would not entertain any restrictions, even for later-term pregnancies. This stance, celebrated by her supporters, is viewed by critics as a radical and inhumane policy that disregards the life of the unborn.
