Beauty influencers are in an entirely different league of their own. Besides having tos of followers who tune into their content, they tend to have brand collaborations that some celebrities could only dream of. Recently, YouTube star and makeup influencer Salish caused an uproar at the American Dream mall in New Jersey when the attendance of an overwhelming number of fans at an event of hers caused a safety issue. Of course, what danger could just a few makeup fans pose? Well, watch the video below to see just how many people were in attendance.

Salish Matter is a 15-year-old YouTube sensation whose brand was created by her father, Jordan Matter, when she was only ten years old. At the height of the pandemic in 2020, Salish began posting to social media platforms like Instagram and YouTube, where she would soon amass millions of followers. A competitive gymnast, her videos and posts consist primarily of content surrounding her career and family. However, most recently, a lot of her content has also focused on her skincare brand, Sincerely Yours.

The brand is a collaboration with Sephora, and consists primarily of facial cleansers that have become increasingly popular online. To help support this endeavor, an Eventbrite event was hosted at the American Dream mall in New Jersey, where nearly 30,000 attendees showed up. Despite hoping to manage the size by considering the number of people who RSVP’d on Eventbrite, many others caught wind of the event and showed up without telling anyone. At one point during the chaos, Jordan Matter spoke up and told the crowd that the State Police would need to intervene should things continue the way they were.

Commentators replied to the video above, not shocked at all that police were likely to intervene, given the circumstances. In fact, the top comment says, “Don’t have events like this at a mall! Have them at a proper venue like where concerts are held. 40,000 in American dream mall is just crazy and dangerous.”

While the event ended up being canceled to ensure the safety of its patrons, plenty of people were left disappointed, especially teenagers who were in attendance. In the comments of the same above video, Salish herself commented, saying, “Yes we really wish we could’ve kept on going, and getting to talk to people, but sadly for safety resons we couldn’t. We are sorry, and I am beyond thankful for everyone that came to support us. Thank you. 💕❤️.”

Thankfully, no one was injured and everyone was able to leave the premises safely. Hopefully, more thought will be put into an event launch as large as this to make sure that those most important, the fans, stay as safe as possible. I mean, what good is a fan of a product if you drive them away with bad practices?
