When a major role goes up, countless actors audition. When the MCU wanted Spider-Man, Matt Lintz from Ms. Marvel came close to getting the role before losing out to Tom Holland, as he revealed in an interview with Insider.

“I was in the top for Spider-Man, which eventually went to this guy, Tom Holland. I don’t know if you know who he is,” he said.

Although he lost to Holland, Matt Lintz met Spider-Man when he came to visit the set.

“It was cool because he [Tom Holland] ended up coming to one of our sets one day and I just got to speak to him, and I look up to him in so many ways,” he said. “He’s such an amazing person and an actor and it seems like life has come full circle”

Matt Lintz Auditioned for the MCU Spider-Man then Starred in Ms. Marvel

The actor is most notable for his time on The Walking Dead. He took time and went from high school to college when killed off. Ms. Marvel was the first audition in college that Matt Lintz went for, his first Marvel audition since Spider-Man. When he got the part, it was time to drop school to star in the Disney Plus Series as a supporting character, Bruno.

“I was about two months in, and I got an audition, it was untitled obviously, but for Marvel,” he said. “I auditioned a couple of times, I got ahead of it and I was like ‘Okay, well like I probably won’t get it.’ And then I have a screen test with Ms. Marvel, Iman Vellani, that went great. Then I had a screentest with Rish Shah, whose playing Kamran, and then I mean I went straight into filming, I had to drop out of school to do this.”

Ms. Marvel is currently streaming on Disney Plus, with its finale set for July 13th.
