There have been a lot of successful PlayStation remasters in recent years and this years PlayStation Experience just revealed another cult classic that could be a hit with fans. That game is MediEvil.
Originally released for the first PlayStation back in 1998 by developer SCE Cambridge Studio, MediEvil was an action-adventure hack and slash set in the medieval Kingdom of Gallowmere. The game focused around protagonist Sir Daniel Fortesque as he attempts to stop the evil Zarok’s invasion of the kingdom whilst simultaneously redeeming himself. The kicker? Dan is a reanimated corpse.
The news came from Sony Interactive Entertainment America, as he revealed an interesting shirt that he was wearing. Once he revealed that MediEvil would be getting a full remaster, and after saying he’d seen a lot of feedback about bring the classic game back, he stated that he considers the title to be a really important title in his personal journey and career.
“We think Sir Daniel needs one more resurrection and this is the time to do it,” Layden said. “Serendipitously, I’d already had this one baking in the oven and then I saw all the pressure and thought this was a great time to talk about it.”
While all that was shown was a teaser trailer, it did unveil an impressive visual overhaul for the remake, boasting 4K support. There is no timetable as of yet for the game’s release.
