Megan Thee Stallion‘s Coachella performance didn’t go quite as expected. Not only did the rapper face technical issues throughout the night, but she didn’t even get to finish her set. According to video footage, Stallion was about to perform her TikTok hit “Mamushi” when her mic suddenly got cut off. Fans hoped it was just another blip. However, when the audio failed to come back on, they realized she must have been booted off for going passed her time slot. Since her concert only ran two minutes late, fans called out Coachella for being “too strict” and not letting Stallion give the crowd a proper goodbye.

Megan Thee Stallion’s Coachella Performance Ends Abruptly

Megan Thee Stallion had just finished performing “Big Ole Freak” and was about to go into “Mamushi” next when everything went silent. The star looked visibly confused and turned to her crew for some answers. It’s possible she thought her mic getting turned off was just a mistake since she tried to stall the crowd, hoping her audio would return soon. When that didn’t happen, Stallion improvised by attempting to perform “Mamushi” anyway. Her backup dancers followed suit by launching into the song’s choreography. Fans chanted Stallion’s name in support as Stallion and her dancers tried to continue the show.

After realizing her mic wouldn’t be turning back on, Stallion stopped performing and began speaking into her mic. It appeared she was trying to thank fans and tell them goodbye. Even though no one could hear her, the crowd seemed to get the message that she was leaving. They erupted in cheers in response before Stallion walked off the stage with her crew.

Fans Claim Coachella Disrespected Her

Despite the situation, Stallion appeared to be a good sport about everything since she smiled while making her exit. Fans, on the other hand, weren’t so forgiving. So many of them shared their frustations with how the festival handled things on X. “Why they so damn strict?” one fan asked. “Coachella was wrong for that,” another person said. “That’s disrespectful af,” read another comment.

They understood that Megan Thee Stallion’s Coachella performance ran late. However, since it was just two minutes passed schedule, they felt the festival should have at least let Stallion finish her last song. They thought it was so rude that she was cut off mid-performance. On top of that, she wasn’t even allowed to give fans a proper goodbye.

Coachella likely ended Stallion’s performance short so the stage could be changed for Post Malone’s set. The singer was scheduled to go on at 10:25 p.m., which is exactly one hour after Stallion was meant to finish her concert. According to the official Coachella website, Malone didn’t have a specific end time, however.

Megan Thee Stallion will perform at Coachella again on Sunday, April 20. Here’s hoping everything goes smoother for her the second time around.
