After some teasers hit the net during the Memorial Day weekend, it seems that the villain for Transformers: The Last Knight has finally been revealed. The villain will be none other than the Decepticon leader, Megatron himself, which was announced in a teaser released on Wednesday.
The last time we saw Megatron, if not counting his time as Galvatron, was in Transformers: Dark of the Moon back in 2011. Optimus Prime ripped off his head and that seemed to be the last we saw of the Decepticon leader. In Transformers: Age of Extinction, Megatron’s essence was transferred to a manmade transformer named Galvatron. It is unsure if Megatron will be Galvatron just renaming himself or if Megatron will be built anew.

Worth noting, the teaser shows off a new look for Megatron who sports horns and purple eyes. It isn’t the first time we have seen the purple eyes in teasers for Transformers, with Optimus Prime having them when the title of the film was announced. Many speculate the purple eyes hints at dark energon being introduced to the films.
Alongside with the villain announcement, Michael Bay confirmed that Transformers: The Last Knight also starts principle production this week. Already we have some looks at what kind of cars to expect and that the film will be shooting in Cuba for a bit followed by Detroit at the end of the week.
Transformers: The Last Knight is set to release next summer on June 23, 2017, in the US. The film stars Mark Wahlberg as Cade Yeager, Josh Duhamel as Lieutenant Colonel Lennox who are returning from previous films. New comers to the series, Isabela Moner and Jerrod Carmichael are also set to star in leading roles.
