One of the main surprises of this year’s Paris Fashion Week was undoubtedly Meghan Markle‘s unexpected appearance at the event. Many did not expect Prince Harry‘s wife to be into fashion, let alone attend one of the prestigious “Big Four” fashion weeks. However, The Cut recently revealed that Meghan asked Balenciaga designer Pierpaolo Piccioli for an invitation to the event. In other words, she wasn’t even invited in the first place. “There was no strategy or big orchestration,” Piccioli explained. But many fans believe Meghan did have a strategy of her own: to “hurt” her husband, Harry.
One Sussex follower on Reddit pointed out that Paris is “the city that, famously, Harry’s mom died in.” They question Meghan’s true motives for going to Paris Fashion Week: “Don’t you think that’s weird, even for her?” Many will recall that Princess Diana, Prince William and Prince Harry’s mother, was killed in a car crash while allegedly fleeing from paparazzi in Paris, France. It would make sense if Meghan Markle avoided a trip to the capital city, considering its tragic connection to her late mother-in-law. Yet, she requested an invitation to Paris Fashion Week, despite many believing she had no business being there.
Followers Believe Her Attendance in Paris Is Evidence She’s No Longer with Harry
That said, critics feel that her attendance at the Paris event was a “power play” to tell Harry and the world that she can do whatever she likes. In fact, people believe this decision might be Meghan’s way of publicly implying that she’s separated from Harry. “I think she and H are 1000% not together any longer if she is begging invites specifically to go to Paris knowing how much it will hurt him,” remarks a Redditor. “So cruel and calculated. Pure evil,” another replied in agreement. “It is hard to see any reason why this was done apart from to specifically traumatise or hurt her husband,” added a third.

It’s clear to many that Meghan Markle isn’t into fashion, and she could have chosen another fashion week to attend instead of Paris, considering she has no known ties to the place. “I think we can be relatively certain now,” remarks a Reddit commenter. “They are no longer together.” Yet, this isn’t the first time the As Ever founder has attended an event no one believes she should have been invited to. For instance, many followers also believe she likely begged or even bribed her way into becoming a speaker for Fortune’s Most Powerful Women in DC. As Ever is reportedly not successful, and the ratings for her related Netflix series are far more negative than positive.
But as the saying goes, bad publicity is still publicity for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. And one online user claims that all “this is just another way for them to distract from the bad headlines.”
