While Meghan Markle has been ‘successful’ enough to start her own brand and Netflix show, the internet is not taking her seriously. Although she does have loyal fans who follow her recipes and questionable methods of cooking, there are plenty more who find her practices atrocious. One recent offender is what Reddit has labeled “the single worst As Ever food photo” they have ever seen. The post in question shows two photos of food that many claim to be anything but appetizing.
The first picture is of a quinoa plate of sorts, with other ingredients that certainly should work as a hearty breakfast meal, but were combined into what people considered an absolute disaster. The post’s second photo isn’t as gaudy on the eyes as the first, but the excessive flower sprinkles still made online users’ stomachs turn. “WTF is this?!? I know Meghan’s desperate for content, but REALLY!!!” remarked the post’s author, saying the food pics were both truly hideous and ridiculous. They continue, saying that one who photographed the second photo should get fired if they plan to share their “@meghan-inspired” tartine with their office manager.
Critics Say Markle’s Flower Sprinkles Are Excessive and Unnecessary
“Enough with the flower sprinkles already. Does she have to put it on EVERYTHING?” exclaims the post’s top commenter, with hundreds upvoting in agreement. “What the hell kind of murder scene is that first one?!” agreed another. A reply reads that the Duchess of Sussex might be attempting to make ‘being sloppy’ a trend of sorts, a sort of chaotic delight, if you will. Other people assume that Markle is just trolling critics at this point with unappealing food photos like this. Many others claim that she’s really trying to push the shredded flower sprinkles as ‘her own thing,’ a unique touch trademarked by the Duchess.
Another commenter chimed in, saying that food pics, especially ones used as social media promotion, are supposed to look appetizing. Naturally, some unsightly recipes can still be delicious, but sprinkling dead flowers doesn’t suddenly make a messy dish look appealing, the user argues. They continue, saying a good food stylist would do Markle good, but she needs to start being more open to criticism by allowing comments on her social media posts and engaging with her community the same as everyone else. To be fair, though, engaging with an overwhelming tidal wave of haters via enabled comments is probably a whole can of worms even her PR team couldn’t handle.
At the very least, her attempt to be unique with the whole flower sprinkle thing is working. Though the uniqueness is ironically coming at a cost.
