At 40, Prince Harry doesn’t have it all figured out, invariably affecting the future of his relationship with wife Meghan Markle. Hollywood hasn’t exactly been the most welcoming place for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex amid their never-ending scandal and familial rifts. Yet, the pair have made the most of their royal freedom, supporting philanthropic causes dear to their hearts while promoting their brand. In years past, Harry and Meghan have established themselves as a joint force, appearing together in onscreen projects, interviews and even co-championing their philanthropic endeavors.
This has cemented them as an inseparable duo in the hearts of millions around the world. Hence, Prince Harry’s latest spree of solo projects since turning forty did not go unnoticed, leaving many questioning the Sussexes’ marital future. Harry geared off his new decade with a fun vacation with his close pals on his birthday weekend, while Meghan stayed back in Montecito with the kids. Thereafter, the Duke made another solo appearance, attending a charity event this weekend in California. Although reports suggest Meghan pulled out last minute after falling ill, the New York trip seems like another tell-tale sign not easily explained away.
Prince Harry and Meghan Reportedly Live Separate Lives
On Monday, September 23, Prince Harry embarked on a trip to New York City to commence a slew of activities lined up for the Climate Week, September 22 to September 29. The trip, another made without his wife would see Harry appear at several charitable events, including The Diana Awards, an initiative honoring the contributions of young activists to society that impact lives. Although the Sussexes’ rep announced earlier that Prince Harry would make this trip without his wife, royal expert Phil Dampier believes there is more to Meghan Markle’s absence than parental duties. Speaking to The Sun, the royal commentator claimed,
“It is significant that he is doing so much on his own now. They are living more separate lives as it looks like Harry is trying to carve out what exactly his future is. I suspect Harry has been feeling very much like a spare part.”
Going further, Phil noted that these solo engagements were Prince Harry’s way of carving out a more defined future for himself, by having “more fulfilling roles,” even as Meghan keeps up her Hollywood quest. By implication, the Duke would most likely make more of such engagements in the future, which ultimately means the world would see more of him.
Harry Gears Up For Another Trip Without Meghan
Sure enough, Prince Harry already has another major solo trip lined up in the near future. On Monday, September 30, the Duke of Sussex is set to visit London to host the WellChild Awards, one of the few patronages he has maintained ties with since Megxit. During the event, which honors children living with serious illnesses, the father of two would give an inspirational speech, and present awards to outstanding kids in the 4 to 6-year-old categories. There have also been speculations of the Duke’s possible reunion with his dad during the trip having missed the window on his last two visits. This visit would mark Prince Harry’s second trip to England this month.
Earlier this month, the estranged prince made a low-key trip to the UK to pay his last respects to late uncle Lord Robert Fellowes at his funeral. Although his brother, Prince William also attended the funeral, sources noted the two never communicated despite their close proximity. However, what seemed to highlight the true extent of the royal feud turned around when the royal family extended a heartfelt tribute to Harry for his milestone birthday on September 15. With the olive branch extended publicly, Prince Harry’s upcoming UK visit just might provide the right platform for a future royal reconciliation.
