Meghan Markle is jumping on the bandwagon of celebrity-branded winemaking. From big names like Brad Pitt to Cameron Diaz owning their own vineyards, the Duchess of Sussex is also trying her hand at what she considers to be ‘low-hanging fruit’ for her American Riviera Orchard brand. However, seeing how poorly her jam and recent doggy treat marketing went, the Internet isn’t letting Markle’s rosé wine stunt pass scot-free.
Twitter has its own share of non-believers in American Riviera Orchard, but the commentators of Reddit’s r/SaintMeghanMarkle are definitely on another level. “She knows a thing or two about sour grapes, for sure,” a top comment says, garnering hundreds of upvotes as others jeer in agreement. “She should try bottling vinegar, closer to her actual self,” another remarks.
If this was Meghan Markle’s first attempt at a business venture, it would have been unoriginal yet still likely criticized due to her infamous reputation. However, the whole world saw how awful things have been for American Riviera Orchard’s PR thus far, so it’s no surprise Redditors have a thing to say about the inferior likelihood of Markle’s success.
“I don’t think the Duchess of Dog Biscuits is really going to release a wine anyway. It’s like her jam, non-existent because, waaah, it’s so much work.” Another user chimes in, “She hasn’t enough time, and probably not enough patience and no real willingness to work with the winemaker.”
While many slammed the Duchess of Sussex for this ridiculous venture, one user had a critical yet realistic take, “Wine making is vastly more complicated and expensive than making jam or dog biscuits. I doubt we will ever see more that two bottles released a la the raspberry jam.“
Meghan’s unquenchable desire to be a top American A-lister or to be richer than the likes of renowned celebs like the Beckhams has not helped her image at all. Prince William and King Charles already want nothing to do with her husband Prince Harry. Random and pointless marketing campaigns like this winemaking endeavor just tarnish Meghan’s reputation all the more.
