Meghan Markle‘s dad Thomas Markle’s history of “embarrassing” the royal family runs deep, but the soon-to-be 80-year-old is willing to take one more shot as his birthday draws closer. Thomas, who turns 80 in July recently sat down with DailyMail to discuss his relationship with his youngest daughter, or the lack thereof. During the interview, the 79-year-old admitted that while he was not big on birthdays, his biggest wish was to hear from Meghan, despite knowing she would never reach out.
He also hoped to get to meet his grandchildren, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibeth someday, albeit, even in photographs. The implication of Thomas Markle’s revelations hit hard, exposing Meghan Markle’s lack of fealty towards her dad. Royal watcher Hilary Fordwich shared her take on Meghan’s dad’s interview, criticizing the Duchess’ actions as “frightfully sad” and hypocritical.
Hilary pointed out how Meghan Markle, alongside her husband Prince Harry performs philanthropic acts across the United States and beyond. These tours aimed to help people portray Meghan as caring for obvious reasons. Yet, her actions towards those that really mattered, family, prove otherwise. Hilary divulged,
“The hypocrisy of Meghan Markle claiming to care about people and all the tours they go on where they have empathy for people.”
Meghan Markle Shunned Her Dad for Royal Status
Meghan Markle may attribute her filial negligence to her fallout with her dad after he sold her out to the paparazzi ahead of her royal wedding. However, Hilary believes it was no excuse given their beautiful relationship post-royalty. The news commentator cited a 2016 Instagram post where the Suits alum described Thomas Markle as “the greatest dad in the world,” on his birthday.
Hence, whatever must have transpired during the time gap does not justify the lack of concern. Even worse, it offered no excuse for Meghan Markle to ignore her dad’s birthday or neglect his continuous plea to meet his grandchildren.
Hilary Fordwich also resurrected Meghan’s past claims that she “achieved everything herself” and hailed from a poor background. She called out the former actress for lying about her childhood circumstances, saying,
“Actually, she had a very privileged childhood, being sent to private schools in California and of course, her father, was the one who set her off on her career in Hollywood. It wasn’t all done by herself.”
While Meghan Markle has yet to comment on her dad’s claims, a source revealed she took it really hard. According to the source, the duchess feels under attack. She especially found it difficult to deal with this new disclosure, as until now, she believed the episode with her dad dragging her through the press was long behind her.
