Meghan McCain is doing a complete 180 on her initial opinion of Meghan Markle! The author came out guns blazing following the release of the Duchess of Sussex’s new Netflix series trailer. McCain claimed Markle’s personality has greatly changed since exiting the Royal family.
The television personality reacted to the promotion of Markle’s upcoming series showcasing her exquisite culinary skills with friends. Mindy Kaling, Roy Choi, Alice Waters, and Abigail Spencer appeared in a sneak peek of the new show With Love Meghan. McCain could not help but point out that Markle’s tastefully furnished kitchen oozed affluence and luxury.
The former TV show host began her rant on X by declaring she was “originally a Meghan Markle supporter.” McCain admitted that she found her “cool, stylish and refreshing,” but her opinion changed amid the royal family drama. She noted that Markle “disrespected the royal family” and is failing in her attempt to be “American again.”
McCain expressed that unlike “British aristocracy,” the American audience “want real, raw, uncensored.” She condemned the trailer for being “highly curated, produced and out of touch.” McCain stated that the concept was “ill advised,” especially amid the economic situation, “uncertainty and intensity right now.” The former show anchor detailed what she would have done differently if she were on Markle’s advisory team. McCain concluded in her lengthy post by writing:
“This is why the world doesn’t like you, nothing else. Just completely and utterly tone deaf to the moment.”
Mixed Reactions Trails the Blogger’s Criticism of Meghan Markle
The former U.S. Senator’s daughter’s comments evoked thousands of commentaries all over X. A user claimed Markle’s approach was brilliant as she gained over 1 million Instagram followers in 24 hours. Another commenter agreed with McCain, claiming she stopped liking Markle after “what she did to the royal family.”
This commenter subtly disagreed with McCain’s perspective and wondered why the same curated template worked for the Real Housewives franchise. A Markle supporter in the comments wondered why McCain was “triggered by a Netflix series.” Another user thinks Markle is “boring and” has “no talent,” as they disclaimed that it was their opinion.
More comments echoed this user’s sentiment that Markle is “not capable of being of service to anybody but herself.” One person even considered using their “$27/month” Netflix subscription on something else. Despite the overwhelming reservations in the comments, this user hopes the show becomes “a huge success.” The Suits actress and the Duke of Sussex are currently sitting on a $100 million content deal with Netflix.
H&M’s Alleged Professional Separation Tagged Efforts To Promote Their Brand
The Duchess of Sussex’s new show comes on the heel of rumors of a marital crisis. We reported claims of a crack in the marriage surfaced following the decision to embark on a professional separation. Social commentator Richard Fitzwilliams swiftly disputed the prevailing narrative, who claimed it was all a publicity stunt.
According to the expert, the couple may intentionally let the narrative fly to boost Markle’s brand. Fitzwilliams explained that their recent visits to Nigeria and Colombia also testify to their PR move. Sticking to the theme of their professional separation, Markle was spotted attending several events without her husband’s company.
Markle was nowhere to be found at the latest Invictus Games in Canada, where Harry actively participated. The prince also traveled solo to New York for Climate Week and South Africa last quarter of 2024. Markle channeled Harry and attended the 2024 Children’s Hospital Los Angeles gala solo. The doting mom did the same at the launch of her friend’s haircare line, where she danced all night.
Will Meghan Markle’s new show win hearts when it finally drops despite the backlash?
