Melania Trump is just as much as a controversial figure as her husband Donald Trump. The former first lady has faced much criticism since being in the public spotlight. From her marriage to Donald to her convention speeches to her lackadaisical concern for the American public, she’s always judged. Now, she’s facing more backlash, this time over her upcoming memoir.
The book simply titled Melania will be released on Oct. 1 by Skyhorse Publishing. Her memoir will detail everything from her childhood in Slovenia to her modeling career to life in the White House. According to Fox News, pre-orders for the book have already shot to #1 on several of Amazon’s bestsellers lists.
The book is already on its way to being a success, which pleases the former model. In a statement to Fox News, she said:
Writing my memoir has been an amazing journey filled with emotional highs and lows. Each story shaped me into who I am today.
However, along with the success of her upcoming memoir also comes controversy.
Melania Trump Memoir Cover Looks Similar to Another Book
For the memoir cover, the former first lady decided to plain and simple. The cover is black with Melania spelled in white letters.
The blandness of the cover is enough to draw criticism, but it’s now generating claims of plagiarism. According to The Daily Beast, Melania’s book is drawing comparisons to Chanel Catwalk by Patrick Mauriès.
The fashion book, released in 2020, showcases iconic designer Karl Lagerfeld’s famous Chanel collections. The cover of the book is black and has the title Chanel Catwalk in white letters.
There’s no denying a similarity between Chanel Catwalk and Melania. This of course has sparked claims that she copied the artwork for her cover.
This wouldn’t be the first time Mrs. Trump was caught in a plagiarism scandal. In 2016, she came under fire for her RNC speech after she plagiarized Michelle Obama’s 2008 DNC speech.
So far, there’s been no comment from Melania Trump about the cover art controversy. But that’s not stopping the memoir from skyrocketing to the bestsellers list.
