The Metal Gear Solid: Master Collection was released today, with players dying to finally revisit some of the best stealth action games ever made. However, the experience was not as smooth and seamless as expected from a classic collection such as this. Fans are disappointed over the muddy visuals, lackluster performance, and no real improvements compared to the originals. Fortunately, Konami has confirmed that it knows the issues and is working on a fix to improve the experience. But on the very day of release, a datamine has already discovered interesting information in the files of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection.

Dataminers have delved deep into the game’s code and discovered hits to what Konami fans can expect in the future. The datamine shows references to other Metal Gear games in the series that aren’t part of the collection. Volume 1 of the Master Collection has three Metal Gear Games: MGS1, MGS2, and MGS3. But since this is named Volume 1, another volume is bound to be on its way.

It shouldn’t be a surprise that Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots will return with Volume 2 since it is a mainline entry that Konami has already leaked. But what is a surprise is that Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker is also mentioned in the source code. And even weirder, the latest Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain has also been referenced.

MGSV isn’t an old game by any means, and to this day, it gives some of the most cutting-edge games a run for their money in terms of graphics, animations, and content. Initially released in 2015, the game never got a current generation version, and that is what the coming Volume (or Volumes) of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection might contain, according to the datamine.

Metal Gear Solid 4 and Peace Walker are exciting because they have been stranded in their release consoles with no other way to experience them apart from cloud streaming. So this finally puts them on more consoles so everyone can experience the seriey. Konami removed the legendary Kojima’s name from the credits of all the games in the Master Collection, showing that the departure might not have been on good terms.
