Mt Vulkano is a special dungeon you can explore once you reach bond rank 8 with Eupha in Metaphor: ReFantazio. After finding out that the sick people have gone missing, you must now retrieve them from this deadly zone during the Edge of Glory quest. There are numerous holes and floors that you need to go through before you can reach the boss arena. You may also find another quest item in this dungeon, so I recommend fully exploring all the floors first.
How To Complete Edge of Glory Quest
To complete the Edge of Glory quest in Metaphor: ReFantazio, you must find and defeat Mad Sanctor Hyperic on the lowest floor inside the Mt Vulkano dungeon. Reaching the boss area is quite simple since you just need to find holes that you can jump down into.
However, before heading straight to the boss arena, I suggest exploring the upper floors first. This is because you can find the Rusty Greatsword on the highest floor in a treasure chest. An NPC at the capital city will ask you to get this key item at the end of the game.
Mt Vulkano Enemy Weaknesses & Best Team
Since you can access the Mt Vulkano dungeon near the end of the game, the enemies here are quite tough. The best magic to bring is Ice abilities since you are exploring a volcanic mountain, after all. Be careful not to cast any Fire magic since some monsters can drain or repel this element.
The most common enemies here are Spekto, but you can also encounter slime monsters called Vampire Gelatinos. Another dangerous creature that will roam the hallways is the Lava Manjula. Most are weak against Ice magic, but you can try attacking with Lightning, Light, or Wind abilities.
Enemy | Weakness | Resist | Block |
---|---|---|---|
Spekto | Light, Ice | – | – |
Vampire Gelatinos | Lightning, Ice | – | Slash, Strike, Pierce |
Dark Elmenta | Light | Dark | – |
Skull Gelatinos | Light, Ice | – | Slash, Strike, Pierce |
Great Moth Nocurmos | Wind, Ice | – | – |
Lava Manjula | Ice, Strike | Slash, Pierce | – |
Since the Edge of Glory is a request from Eupha, you need to have her on your team. Luckily, her Archetype is quite useful, especially if you have unlocked new summons. Having a Mage is also a good idea since most enemies are weak against Ice, but you can also bring a Brawler. Here are the team comp you can use to explore Mt Vulkano:
- Protagonist – Healer
- Eupha – Summoner
- Hulkenberg – Mage
- Basilio – Brawler
How To Beat Mad Sanctor Hyperic
As far as I know, Mad Sanctor Hyperic does not have any weakness or resistance against any attack. The madman can cast AoE Almighty magic that can inflict damage on your whole team. He can also cast AoE Dark magic, so you may want to avoid using classes that are weak against this element. You still want to have healing skills, though, since the boss will spam Almighty attacks.
Once you reduce his health bar to half, Mad Sanctor Hyperic will start to use Curse Chant. This ability can inflict a Hex status effect on your whole team. You can remove it by using Pen Patra, or you can equip an accessory that helps you resist this effect.
Here is the team comp that I recommend to beat Mt Vulkano boss:
- Protagonist – Soul Hacker
- Eupha – Summoner
- Strohl – General
- Junah – Faker
Soul Hacker is resistant to Dark elements, so the Protagonist won’t receive as much damage. Hopefully, one of your party members has inherited an AoE healing ability, but you can also use consumable items. Eupha has to be added to your team when you face Mad Sanctor Hyperic but you can use the Summoner Archetype.
The General class is quite useful here since it can also use Megido. This Archetype can also buff your team, so ensure you increase your party’s DEF. Faker, on the other hand, can debuff the Mt Vulkano boss so his ATK won’t inflict as much damage.
