Metroid has been in the spotlight for quite some time now. With the release of Metroid Dread, many considered it a long return to form for the series. Yet, while some were more turned off by the weak length, there was still plenty to love about the game. The 2D formula, while predicate, was an excellent return for the franchise’s initial return. Yet despite those thinking the title lacked in content, Nintendo is working on a few updates to the game. Included was a snippet at an upcoming boss rush mode as well. Announced in the Nintendo Direct presentation was the reveal for Metroid Dread’s upcoming free updates and modes.

A free update lands in #MetroidDread!

When Is The Metroid Dread Boss Rush Mode Available To Players?

While the game has been scrutinized in the past for being a bit too difficult, Nintendo is doubling down. With a new mode called Dread mode, the experience of Metroid Dread just got so much harder. Featuring a 1 hit kill mechanic makes every encounter count. There’s so much that can go wrong in even the smallest packs of enemies. Yet while this makes the challenge that much more difficult, there’s also a more accessible mode. Titled rookie mode, this new difficulty scales the challenge back some more. Already easier from normal mode, the more specific challenge makes the journey to planet ZDR that much easier. These difficulty settings are available now for players to use after downloading an additional update.

Furthermore, another update in April will add a boss rush mode. Pitting Samus against all of the bosses in the game, this mode seeks to test the true potential of a player’s skill. With one after the other in a massive relay against time, players can truly show how skilled they are with Samus’ arsenal. With no set date just yet, be sure to check back for more on the latest Metroid Dread news.
