Michelle Obama is over the public’s insistence on trouble in paradise in her marriage to Barack Obama! The former First Lady refuted the rumors in a recent appearance on Sophia Bush’s iHeart Radio podcast Work in Progress. She noted her newfound independence had sparked the divorce speculations because people couldn’t appreciate her life outside the White House.
Michelle reflected on her time as First Lady, telling Bush she always prioritized her daughters and her husband. Since leaving her post, the mother of two has finally given herself the freedom to make decisions without excuses. Unfortunately, embracing her independence wasn’t well-received, with Michelle noting the public’s theories were uncalled for.
“That’s the thing that we as women struggle with — disappointing people. I mean, so much so that this year, people couldn’t even fathom that I was making a choice for myself. That they had to assume that my husband and I are divorcing,” Michelle lamented. She added that whenever women don’t fit into certain stereotypes, their decisions get “labeled as something negative and horrible.”
Michelle and Barack Obama Still Have a Spark

Michelle doubled down on the stability of her marriage, noting she and Barack still enjoyed a spark in their relationship. She implied the only troubles in their romance were common couple problems like deciding what TV shows to watch together.
The former White House resident revealed the pair frequently clashed over their TV preferences. Barack enjoyed “death and darkness.” On the other hand, Michelle loved “light,” citing shows like Nobody Wants This and Ted Lasso as her favorites. Her comments follow recent reports of the duo’s alleged efforts to save their marriage.
We covered the story, reporting that a Hollywood insider claimed Michelle and Barack had re-entered couples counseling. Michelle first revealed that they joined a couple’s therapy group to deal with some personal issues 2018. The source noted their current need for professional help stemmed from their desire to remain together, saying:
“They love each other deeply, but marriage is work. They’re committed to doing that work – even now.”
Michelle Obama’s Swipes at Her Husband Fueled the Divorce Rumors

The divorce drama began last August when Barack and Friends star Jennifer Aniston became embroiled in cheating rumors. The separation speculations resurfaced this year, thanks to Michelle’s swipes at her husband. She became more vocal about her issues with the former president, especially on her IMO podcast series.
Some of her comments about Barack included insinuations that he wasn’t as financially sound as he appeared. Additionally, Michelle revealed the couple was out of sync, especially in the bedroom. These statements had many believing the former first lady was soft-launching a future split.
The insider echoed similar sentiments of trouble in the duo’s paradise, saying, “People see the hand-holding and the cute Instagram captions. But behind the scenes, it’s two people choosing each other every day – and some days are harder than others.” The divorce speculations continued with Michelle and Barack allegedly speaking to their financial advisors about distributing their $70 million assets.
Could all be well in the Obamas’ home, as Michelle claims?
