Michelle Obama is known for being a lot of things. In addition to her title as former First Lady, podcast host, author, and all-around empowering woman, she’s also a mother. She and her husband, Barack Obama, share two children together, Sasha and Malia. It’s a role that Michelle takes seriously. However, that didn’t stop her from putting her foot down when the 44th President of the United States wanted to add a third child to the Obama brood.
This week, Michelle Obama sat down for a chat on Kylie Kelce’s Not Gonna Lie podcast. Obama and Kelce might have more in common than fans realize. They both know what’s it’s like to be in high-profile relationships, deal with media scrutiny, and raise children. Currently, Kylie is pregnant and expecting her fourth child with husband Jason Kelce. So, of course, the topic turned to motherhood.
During their chat, Michelle revealed that earlier in their marriage she and Barack disagreed about how many children to have. He reportedly wanted to have a third child, but Michelle wasn’t having it.
Michelle Obama Says Blocked Barack From Third Child
“I think I’ve been lucky with these two,” she said of her daughters. “Two good sleepers, I’d call it too. You know, I’m thinking we’re gonna get a crazy one,” Obama joked.
All jokes aside, Michelle and Kylie got open and honest about motherhood, including the fears that they’ve had raising their daughters.
“I think the sadness or the postpartum that I felt with my kids really came from, like, you love these babies so much. You immediately, you’re connected, and you think, ‘Oh my god, all you have is me. I feel so bad for you. I wish you had a parent.’”
Michelle also went on to reveal that she’s been approached about her own political career, including running for president. However, she has no interest and it’s mainly because of her children. She confessed that she wants Sasha and Malia to have their own lives and freedom to be themselves away from the harsh spotlight of politics. “They’ve already served their time,” she stated.
“Whether you love or hate Michelle Obama, she’s a powerful women and mother. Her daughters are lucky to have her. Of course, I’m also obsessed with Kylie Kelce. Love her!” one person commented about the interview.
Recently, Michelle Obama launched her very own podcast with her brother, Craig Robinson. There, she also opens up with real and raw conversations, including talk of politics, parenting, marriage, and other important topics.
