On her Instagram account, which has more than 800,000 followers, she shared photos of herself looking frail and thin. This had many of her fans asking her if she was alright and speculating about drug use in the final days of her life.
According to the New York Post, Michelle Trachtenberg’s death is not being investigated as suspicious. Her cause of death has yet to be confirmed. However, TMZ reports that she had undergone a liver transplant before her death after allegedly struggling with alcohol issues. The actress shot to fame as a child with roles as Harriet The Spy and Inspector Gadget.
She later starred as Dawn Summers on the hit series Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Trachtenberg also landed noteworthy parts on shows such as Six Feet Under, Weeds, and Gossip Girl. Her film credits include 17 Again, Take Me Home Tonight, Black Christmas, and more.

Before her death, Trachtenberg reportedly defended her appearance online when fans questioned her looks. “Did you lose a calendar and not realize I’m not 14. I’m 38. How sad for you to leave such a comment,” she replied to one comment. “Explain to me how I look sick,” she also said (via Page Six).
In a separate post, Michelle claimed to be healthy and thriving. “I’ve received several comments recently about my appearance. I have never had plastic surgery I am happy and healthy. Check yourself haters,” she wrote.
Just one week before her heartbreaking death, Trachtenberg shared a throwback photo of herself. She also added a current selfie. She captioned that post, “Eye of the Tiger.”
Of course, fans were absolutely distraught to learn of the actress’ death. Many took to social media to share their thoughts on the tragedy.
“Absolutely loved Michelle Trachtenberg in Buffy. I’m not going to act like I have followed her or kept up to date with her, but it’s shocking to hear of her death. She was BULLIED about how she looked leading up to her death. Whatever happened to be kind?” one person wrote via X.
