A woman from Michigan is now fighting for her job after she returned from maternity leave to find out that her position had seemingly been given away to one of her co-workers. The new mother’s husband is now seeking advice, as his wife is understandably upset by the actions that her workplace took during the weeks she was recovering from childbirth. Now, the couple want answers and are hoping to make a plan.
The Michigan mom’s partner took to Reddit for advice about the situation. The new father revealed that his wife was stunned to return to work after her maternity leave to find that her usual position had been given away to a co-worker, who had seemingly swapped jobs with the returning worker.
The poster shared that his wife is a principal at a Head Start center. During her time at the job, she had an assistant principal working alongside her. However, the assistant doesn’t have the Bachelor’s degree required for his wife’s job. The center includes 11 classrooms. The Michigan man claims that the plan was to have his wife manage eight of those classrooms while the assistant helped oversee the other three. However, all of that changed when his wife returned to work.
After giving birth in January, the worried husband says that his wife returned to work and was told that as of May 1st, the assistant principal would be managing the eight classrooms, and his wife would be managing the other three. In addition, many of the policies and procedures that his wife had put into place were overhauled by the assistant and their boss while she was on leave.

To make matters even more suspicious, the boss and the assistant principal are old friends who attended college together. “It feels like my wife was plotted against,” the man wrote.
Things went from bad to worse when it was revealed that the new parents would likely be seeing a change in their finances as well.
“3 of the classrooms that were taken from my wife run through the summer, so now my wife may be laid off for the summer. Her pay will also more than likely be cut since she isn’t managing as many classrooms,” the post read.
Commenters in the forum were stunned by the story and outraged for the Michigan couple.
“She was basically ambushed. That’s not fair. She needs to stand up for her rights,” one person commented.
“I would consult with some employment lawyers,” suggested another.
“Goodness, those Head Start kids need every advantage they can get, not a subpar teaching environment,” a third person wrote.
The Michigan mom is said to have a meeting to iron out all of the details about what happened in the near future. Hopefully, she’ll be able to get some answers and figure out if she can fight for her former position. Until then, Redditors are wishing her the best.
