A woman visited a festival in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and picked up a fudge dessert from a seller. Excited to dig in days later, she fortunately noticed something odd with the fudge. On closer inspection, she spotted a worm.
Emily, also known as em.like.emily online, shared her disturbing discovery on TikTok. She often posts short videos of her family, friends, and, of all things, ducks. This time around, her uploaded content took a turn to serious, and also viral. The clip attached above garnered 500,100 views, 9055 likes, and close to 1,600 comments in a day, becoming her biggest one to date.
The Michigan woman said she attended the Grand Rapids Applebutter Fest on Sunday, October 11. While at the festival, she bought a fudge dessert made by Toujours Chocolat Chocolates, based in the city of Flint. Apparently, Emily is a frequent buyer of them, at least during such occasions.
Days later, on Tuesday, October 13, she noticed something “powdery” and “gritty” on the fudge just before digging in. When she looked closer, she found the source: worms. Safe to say, she wasn’t gonna take a single bite out of that fudge.
“I don’t know if they have all kinds of tunnels through here, but I’m totally grossed out. We did three for 20, and I don’t even want to eat the other two, because how do I know that they don’t have worms in them?” Emily asked.
Reactions
The video sparked many responses, some of which were from viewers who were equally grossed out. One said, “Imagine eating half of that in the dark…” Another one commented, “This is why I don’t eat homemade food from people I don’t know.”
Other viewers, however, believed that Emily should’ve just messaged the seller instead of posting the fudge online. One wrote, “Why are we hearing about it?? Contact them.” Some, however, believed Emily did the right thing, with one user responding, “Maybe so people can be mindful and not eat worms if they’ve bought the same thing?“
In a follow-up clip, the Michigan woman said she got in contact with the seller. She was asked to send over the fudge for inspection and was told that they were going to inspect all their products.
