Xbox is always coming up with new and inventive ways to give its customers something new under the brand. We thought we had seen it all, from Barbie collaborations to Series X wraps. Today, Microsoft announced that an Xbox credit card is coming, including customization options and points to redeem for games. American Xbox Insiders who want the Mastercard can expect it to arrive next week (September 21).

Microsoft Rewards members are already earning by spending money on the company. This will be separate from that if you engage with the rewards system. Members would get a point per dollar spent, significantly less than what is rewarded when using the Mastercard. Depending on the level, you have a different point value for items like gift cards. The system is most streamlined for the upcoming card.

Purchasing anything will grant you points to redeem if you use the Xbox credit card. It rewards more if it is Xbox or Microsoft-related, then goes down based on what you are buying. Below is what you will get back for using the card as written by the company:

  • Xbox & Microsoft – Earn 5x card points on eligible products at the Microsoft Store
  • Streaming Services – Earn 3x card points on eligible streaming services like Netflix and Disney+
  • Dining Delivery Services – Earn 3x card points on eligible dining delivery services like Grubhub and DoorDash
  • Everyday purchases – Earn 1x card points on all other everyday purchases

By getting ready to roll out the Xbox credit card, the company offers plenty of incentives for its Xbox Insiders to apply for it. Your first purchase will reward you with 5,000 points, the equivalent of $50. If you are not a Game Pass subscriber, you will receive three months of Game Pass Ultimate. If you already subscribe, you can gift the free three months to someone.

Fans are used to having customized consoles and controllers. The Xbox credit card is no different. It will offer five designs to which you can add your gamertag. The five options include white, darker green with a mix of black, classic green with a white logo, black with a green outlined logo, and a more colorful one that transitions from purple to pink.

If you receive the card, you will need to know a few things. It will have $0 fraud liability, free access to check on your credit score, no annual fees, and more as seen in the Terms and Conditions.
