Hellblade 2 has just made it out into the hands of players and it seems the developers, Ninja Theory, are not only planning for their next game but have already been given the go-ahead from Microsoft. The report comes from Windows Central, which confirms that the studio is working on two new games, one of which we already know about, Project Mara, and the other just got green-lit by Microsoft after the release of Hellblade 2.

The report also says there are no plans to close Ninja Theory anytime soon. This was added because the statement released by Ninja Theory about the launch of Hellblade 2 was somber. This led fans to believe that the studio would get shut down just like Tango Gameworks, and these days when we’re seeing layoffs left and right, you can’t blame people for being concerned about their favorite developers.

Hellblade 2 has had a fairly positive reception, in our review, TheNerdStash gave it a 9/10 for being an unforgettable experience. It is a must-play for anyone who enjoys narrative-driven RPGs, and even more so if you are subscribed to Xbox Game Pass since it is available on the service as a day-one release.

Ninja Theory released the original Hellblade Senua’s Sacrifice back in 2017 and has been working on the sequel for about 5 years. Although the studio is working on multiple projects, we likely won’t get to see them for a long time.

Microsoft shut down a few studios recently including the Hi-Fi Rush developer Tango Gameworks and Arkane Austin for not meeting sales expectations. According to the company, the reason for the studio closures and layoffs of thousands of employees is because the gaming industry is not growing. Meanwhile, Japanese developers are not only retaining staff but raising salaries to ensure more interns join early.

Senua’s Saga: Hellblade 2 was released today May 21, 2024, on Xbox Series S|X and PC.
