Minecraft Dungeons previously took a trip into the Jungle biome for its Jungle Awakens expansion. The expansion brought several more jungle-filled levels to the game, ending with a battle with the Jungle Abomination. Players seemed to enjoy the expansion, with free and paid features to boot. With the Summer about a month from being behind us, the Minecraft Dungeons team wants to bring something to send us into the chilly seasons. Today, the team announces the upcoming Creeping Winter expansion is coming September 8th, filled with snow-covered festivities and a few nasty surprises.
Similar to Jungle Awakens, the Creeping Winter expansion will bring three new levels to the game. Unlike the last expansion though, these levels will bring Minecraft Dungeons into a more snowy atmosphere. It won’t all be fun though, since Creeping Winter isn’t just a clever name. Around every corner, you’ll find mobs affected by this cold. In order to take them on, you’ll need some new gear and artifacts. Minecraft Dungeons will be getting plenty of those, so there’s nothing to worry about. These fights will lead you to a battle with the elusive Wretched Wraith, who promises to be a real challenge.
That’s not all coming with the expansion though. Also coming are two free updates, available to all Minecraft Dungeons players regardless of expansion ownership. The camp will be getting some much-needed additions in the form of some new villagers. Upgrade your tools at the local Blacksmith, or give gifts to your friends at the Gift Wrapper. There’ll also be daily trials, providing challenges every day that test players’ skills in new ways. These should be good for those who want a reason to come back and start slaying once again.
Minecraft Dungeons’ Creeping Winter expansion releases on Xbox Game Pass, PC, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PS4 on September 8th. What do you think of the upcoming expansion?
