Minecraft: Java Edition 1.19 has released 22w14a, its fourth snapshot, on April 6, 2022. This latest test version adds a few new bug fixes and items into the game, including the Recovery Compass, an item that can help you pinpoint your last death location. Since you will drop any items and experience points, you’re holding upon death, having a Recovery Compass in your base is a handy way to recoup your losses after you respawn. Here’s how you can craft yourself a Recovery Compass per Minecraft: Java Edition 1.19 22w14a snapshot.
How to Craft a Recovery Compass in Minecraft
As mentioned above, Recovery Compass is a new type of compass which can point to the last place where a player died. However, if it is not held, you haven’t died yet, or you are not in the same dimension as your death point, the Recovery Compass’s needle will just spin randomly instead of pointing to a specific location. In order to craft it, you will need to:
- First, you will need to grab yourself some Echo Shards.
- These Echo Shards can only be found in Loot Chests in Ancient Cities in the Deep Dark biome at Y level -52.
- 8 Echo Shards are needed to make a Recovery Compass in Minecraft: Java Edition 1.19 22w14a snapshot.
- Then surround a Compass with all the 8 Echo Shards in the Crafting table to make one Recovery Compass, as seen above.
You can stack up to 64 Recovery Compasses in one item slot. Funny enough, you can also turn a Recovery Compass into Lodestone Compass by using it on a Lodestone. It will point to that particular Lodestone as long as the compass is in the same dimension as the Lodestone or the Lodestone is not destroyed yet.
