Hard as a diamond might be a cliche, but Minecraft offers something stronger. If you want to stay as safe as possible, there’s no substitute for Netherite. This end-game material is hard to come by, but the rewards are worth it. Encased in a suit of Netherite armor, you’re all but impervious to harm. With Netherite weapons and tools, you’ll make short work of your foes as well as your chores. To acquire such incredible protective gear and other equipment, you’ll need a Netherite Template to serve as a blueprint. Here’s how to get a Netherite Template to upgrade your armor in Minecraft.
Where To Find a Netherite Template in Minecraft
Since Netherite armor will protect you even better than enchanted diamond, you’ll want to get your hands on it ASAP. Unfortunately, the Netherite Template you’ll need for your upgrades only spawns in chests inside Bastion Remnants. You can only find those ruins in the Nether, so that’s your first stop. On the plus side, Bastion Remnants spawn in almost every biome. There’s no real trick to finding them in the Nether, but if you find a Nether Fortress you’ll need to search elsewhere. They never appear in the same place. Once you’ve found a Netherite Template in a chest, here’s what you need to do to craft more:
- Find a Netherrack block and 7 Diamonds.
- Place the Netherrack in the center crafting slot and the Netherite Template above it.
- Put Diamonds in the remaining slots to craft 2 Netherite Templates.
Your best bet for finding a Netherite Template is within the Bastion Remnants’ Treasure Room. There you’ll find a chest surrounded by gold blocks and lava, with a 100% chance of containing a Netherite Template.
How To Upgrade Using a Template
Now that you’re ready to get smithing, you’ll need a Smithing Table. You’ll also need a Netherite Ingot to upgrade your gear. Here are all the ingredients you’ll need to place in the Smithing Table’s slots:
- Netherite Template x1
- Diamond armor, weapon, or tool x1
- Netherite Ingot x1
Like other Smithing Templates, using a Netherite Template in Minecraft consumes it. You’ll need 8-9 Netherite Templates to fully upgrade, which likely means multiple trips into the Nether in search of Bastion Remnants if you don’t use diamonds to duplicate the first one you find. That’s why it’s always a good idea to duplicate your last Template instead of using it. The payoff is worth it, however, since your shiny new end-game armor will make the Piglins and Piglin Brutes you’ll find there look like sheep.
