In a recent announcement Telltale Games revealed that its story based game in the Minecraft universe, Minecraft: Story Mode, would be getting an extra three chapters over the initial five that were announced. While the fifth episode promises to wrap up Minecraft: Story Mode’s story, the additional three episodes are considered add-ons and extend beyond the initial story.
While the episodes are intended to be part of the Minecraft: Story Mode saga, they aren’t covered under the initial season pass. In order to get access to these extra episodes, at least one episode will have to be purchased and extra funds will have to be paid. While paying extra for more content isn’t favorable, it does make sense since there were only five episodes originally planned.
The release date for the fifth episode was also announced to be March 29, 2016. It was a long wait for the stories intended final episode when compared to the rapid succession the first four episodes were released. The fifth episode, titled Order Up!, also revealed that Lord of the Rings and The Goonies actor Sean Astin would be joining the already all-star cast.
Not much was revealed about the details in the episodes, perhaps to reveal information would only leak spoilers. Either way it won’t really be known until closer to that time, or as some game companies do, until the game actually releases. Fans of the game are sure to get a treat with the new episodes.
