Many people around the country have come to believe that LEOs are not on their side anymore. And you know what? We don’t blame them. Some of them just see ICE running rampant and let them do whatever they want—it doesn’t matter what tactics they use or how aggressive they get. Fortunately, there are still some police departments out there that enforce the law regardless of the person, and Minnesota is a clear example of that. An ICE agent in Bloomington, Minnesota, was arrested after being found guilty of a crime involving a minor.
If you live in Bloomington, you might have heard of the recent Operation Creep. In it, the Bloomington Police Department arrested 16 people who were involved in sex trafficking. However, an ICE agent was among them.
Police Chief Booker Hodges, who is the one speaking in the video, mentions how the arrest went. According to him, once they detained the ICE agent, he said, “I’m ICE, boys.” Yet, the police department didn’t care about that, as, quoting Chief Hodges, “they locked him up.”
Chief Hodges also shares more information about the criminal here, stating that he was a civilian employee of ICE, specifically an auditor. You can also hear how Hodges mentions that this man was recently married.
Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time a situation like this has happened in Minnesota. Many might remember another operation that took place earlier this year, where the police arrested Justin Eichorn, who was charged with attempted coercion and enticement of a minor.
It is really sad to see what is happening in the country, and worst of all, to see how lax ICE is when it comes to background checks. A lot of people often say these people are criminals, and it now rings more true than ever.
As you can imagine, a lot of Redditors were angry and disgusted at this situation, taking their time to judge ICE as a whole for hiring a criminal like this.
“But his background check came back clean,” said one user sarcastically.
Other people praised the police department. As you know, some police officers in certain states have been supporting ICE. Yet, Minnesota stood its ground and decided to arrest a felon regardless of who they worked for.
“I had a feeling that some cops were on our side. I still have the belief that people can change,” commented another user.
Hopefully, this will be a lesson for other ICE agents out there who think they are above the law. Ultimately, if they commit a crime, they aren’t exempt from punishment, and we’re glad to see some police departments are still enforcing the law correctly.
