U.S. Sen. Amy Klobuchar of Minnesota posted on X, celebrating a Senate vote that rejected an effort to remove a delay of a federal hemp ban from a funding bill, saying it would protect thousands of Minnesota jobs for farmers and small businesses. The post drew a wave of replies online, with many users focusing on state fraud concerns and questioning the senator’s priorities and previous positions on farm-related legislation.

Good news: The Senate voted to reject an attempt to strip the hemp ban delay out of the funding bill. A federal hemp ban would wipe out thousands of Minnesota jobs. Our farmers and small businesses are already following strong safety rules — a one-size-fits-all federal ban… pic.twitter.com/SrfVz0ZYqx

In the clip, Klobuchar appears speaking directly to the camera from an office setting. She begins by saying “Last November, Congress” in connection with products “made in our state.” She continues, “So I voted against that bill, as did Tina.” She then states, “But I’ve got some good news,” explaining that the funding measure “only goes to delay the hemp ban.”

She adds that “The delay” provides time “or to get another delay” “to make sure” additional work can continue, and concludes with “Thanks, everyone.” The video does not show the Senate floor proceedings or other speakers.

According to the accompanying post text, Klobuchar described the Senate’s rejection of an effort to remove the hemp ban delay as protecting “thousands of Minnesota jobs” for farmers and small businesses that follow existing safety rules. She said the delay “buys us time” while work continues on longer-term approaches. These details come from the post itself and have not been independently verified beyond the public statements.

Comments Following the Minnesota Senator’s Policy Update

Some users questioned the focus on hemp amid other state issues, with one writing: “Billions in fraud and Amy Klobuchar concerns herself with hemp. Guess she’s trying to corner the pothead vote.”

Others pointed to earlier statements and votes on farming matters, including a comment that stated: “You told farmers you had their back at FarmFest, the same place you said you voted for order at the border (what does that even mean?) and you had the backs of law enforcement. The audience booed, and you told them, ‘Don’t.’ Then you flew back to Washington and voted against the farm bill,” and another that simply noted, “You voted against the farm bill!”

Additional replies raised concerns about the products involved, such as “Every kid who gets poisoned between now and December is on you.”

A smaller number of users expressed support for the effort, with one saying, “Thank you @amyklobuchar !!!! PLEASE KEEP FIGHTING FOR HEMP BUSINESSES ALL OVER THIS COUNTRY DOING IT THE RIGHT WAY! SIMPLE, SAFE, SENSIBLE REGULATION IS THE FUTURE!!! ”

The post and its replies form part of the continuing online discussion around the funding bill and related policy questions in Minnesota.
