A mother in Missouri witnessed how her young son, in the middle of a tantrum, decided to pack his bags and move out. She refused to antagonize him, and the kid eventually regretted it and canceled his very early emancipation.
The hilarious clip was shared on TikTok by Dymond Dash. Durant, her son, is shown with an oddly-worn blue jacket and a green backpack. Although it is unknown what prompted this young boy to seek independence, it is clear that he was, like all children, in the middle of a tantrum.
“Please, stay, Durant,” his brother told him, with a teary voice. Dymond, however, knowing fully well that Durant wasn’t going anywhere, asked him if he had packed food. The young Missouri boy said that he had packed two bottles of water in case he got thirsty.
“Alright. Well, I guess you’re ready,” the mother told her son. The tiny fellow watched the dark street outside, his brother asked him if he was sure, and his father pointed out that he was wearing his blue jacket upside down. The mother, still, was willing to see how far Durant was going to go, saying, “You gotta do what you gotta do.” before adding, “See you later. I love you.”
A Shoeless Runaway
However, as Durant stepped out the front door, he noticed he had no shoes on. Apparently, he didn’t plan this move out at all. He was let inside to get some shoes, and another woman, perhaps an aunt or his grandma, asked for a final hug. Durant didn’t give her one.
The Missouri boy put on his orange Crocs, and he was ready to go. However, at that moment, Durant’s brother, Antwan, started to cry. He didn’t want his brother to go, fully believing he was moving out forever.
Dymond followed her son outside, who was standing there, frozen in time, looking at his brother crying. Apparently, his other brother, Jaden, was crying too. Durant was so overwhelmed that he also broke down in tears. However, when his mother asked him if he really wanted to do this, he answered, while crying, “Yeah.”
Of course, Durant didn’t leave and continues to be an excellent sibling to his brothers. Dymond’s clip, meanwhile, garnered close to 850,000 likes and was watched by 5 million people. Everyone, knowing how dramatic kids can get, was laughing in the comments.
“He wanted y’all to stop him so bad,” one user said. Another netizen said, “I can’t get my 22-year-old son to move out. What is your secret?” A third commenter added, “My mom would have asked if I’m leaving with the bag that she bought.“
