Even a mere scoop of ice cream melting before you can eat it is enough to ruin your day. So imagine the tragedy when one mother and ice cream aficionado from Hazelwood, Missouri, discovered that the $400 worth of ice cream she ordered was delivered to her already melted. The Missouri mom did dispute her purchase, but she just about lost it after the seller asked to provide proof that the ice cream melted, leading to this:
Destiney Jones is the Missouri mom in question, and to prove to her seller/distributor that the ice cream was indeed melted, she basically just dunked her whole hand in the can and twirled it around to reveal the muddy, almost watery texture indicative of a melted ice cream with the caption “Is this ‘proof’ enough ๐ฅดโฆ” And Jones’s fervor in proving that her ice cream was melted has not gone unnoticed:
“Ik you was mad asf ๐คฃ so mad you scooped ur whole hand in there ๐ meeee,” laughs Marissa Childs
Jones’ video has since gone viral with more than 7.5 million views, mostly for her gratuitously washing her hands with muddy ice cream. Also, before you accuse Jones of trying to hoard that much ice cream, the Missouri mom actually ordered the cold confectionery for her cake business. Hence, her ordering $400 worth of ice cream isn’t because she was just going to binge on it.
No Point Crying Over Spilled Milk
Jones also went on to explain to the comment section of her business page on Facebook that the ice cream distributor wanted additional proof that the batch they sent was indeed going to the garbage, so she had to ruin it further. Some people were criticizing Jones for what the fuss is all about, as she could’ve just chucked the ice cream back in the freezer. But that’s probably not a good idea.
“People saying just freeze back up donโt have a texture issue ๐ Soon as I see my ice cream melt too much.. itโs my kids ice cream now. I canโt stand crystals in my ice cream. I donโt want a crunch in my mouth if I didnโt put sprinkles,” explains Sasha Byrd
“you canโt even refreeze ice cream lmao it gets icy and crunchy and gross,” according to Sydney Burton
“it’s dairy so once it’s warm and starting to be soft like that is over the date temp for serving. Frozen dairy needs to stay belowe 0 so that bacteria doesn’t grow,” elaborates Casey StLouis
Some of the more experienced ice cream experts in the comment section said that that’s not how it works. Ice cream that is already melting usually means the water has already separated from the other ingredients, and re-freezing won’t save it, as the texture and the flavor will be ruined. Moreover, milk-based sweets really tend to spoil fast and need to be kept frozen.
In any case, people worried that Jones might be reusing the ice cream needn’t fear, since she also reiterated why she massaged that muddy, melting ice cream. And hopefully, her business gets the ice cream it deserves.
“Why are yall acting like this is my house ๐คฃ.. this is for a whole business..why risk getting someone sick.. I had no idea how long it had been melting..it’s dairy.. wouldn’t you be mad if your caterer brought all your food cold and just said ‘warm it up’ ๐คฃ that’s how yal sound asking why I didn’t refreeze some melted icecream,” says Jones
