I’m sure at some point in your life, you’ve seen a cartoon that involves a car having to haul some unrealistically large piece of equipment. In the real world, it’s dangerous to try and do jobs that require special or specific machinery to ensure you and no one in your vicinity get hurt. That didn’t seem to be the concern of a Missouri driver who felt that transporting his mobile home using the hitch of his SUV was a good idea. Honestly, on paper, that doesn’t sound too bad.
The video shows an SUV in Missouri attempting to travel along a busy highway with a massive mobile home in tow. The mobile home appears to be sagging in some places and likely won’t survive the entirety of the trip. What’s worse is that you can actually hear the SUV dragging against the asphalt due to the sheer weight of the home it’s carrying.
Typically, when a home needs to be transported elsewhere, it is done so by a very specific truck built to handle such heavy weight. In fact, the home is strapped down onto a platform and carefully takes less-traveled roads to ensure the safety of other drivers and the home itself. One commenter said it best: “This is 3 a.m. activities.“
Shortly after the video was taken, the SUV broke down, and authorities were able to fine the man with various citations for damage to the road and excessive width and length. Interestingly enough, the home would have been fine if it had to pass under a bridge.
The only question I have about this is how he even managed to get the trailer moving. Motorhomes like these are not usually meant to be moved, although they do have wheels to do so. I’m impressed that he was able to get it out from wherever it was on the street in the first place.
