U.S. Representative Wesley Bell recently appeared in a viral video in which he was questioned about his ties to the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC). The video sparked outrage among some Democratic voters in Missouri, many of whom were unhappy with his support for Israel.

The video was originally published on suave_gustave_the_5th’s Instagram profile and later made the rounds on Reddit, where users discussed it.

As seen in the video, Bell is approached by Gustave at the House of Representatives. The activist asks whether Bell knows how much money AIPAC has donated to his campaigns and why he does not consider what is happening in Gaza to be a genocide. Bell attempts to answer the question about Gaza by talking about Hamas, but he is interrupted, and the two continue arguing.

The influencer accuses Bell of not caring about Black and brown people in Israel while Bell tries to leave the conversation. In the end, the influencer calls the politician “despicable and disgusting” as Bell walks away.

Reports show that Bell received $2.5 million in direct campaign funding from AIPAC while running for the House.

Missouri Reacts to Wesley Bell’s Exchange With Influencer

The viral exchange sparked many critical comments about Wesley Bell on social media. One user said, “This guy’s a disgrace, and it needs to be brought out more. $11 million approximately from that terror organization otherwise known as AIPAC. Maybe people should flood politicians like this with videos showing what the IDF does to Palestinians.”

Others seemed equally disappointed with Bell, saying: “Terrible that the only Dem we will get in this state is just barely less of a clown than the republicans we have.” Another person added: “AIPAC money needs to be made illegal.”

Not everyone was against Bell, though. One user lamented that “Israel/Palestine has broken so many American brains, man. Seems like for lots of people it’s the only thing they care about.” Someone else called the video “an aggressive attack on Bell. It was not an exchange by any means. Nor was it a debate.”

Ties to Israel continue to be controversial in U.S. politics, particularly among some younger voters because of the ongoing violence in Gaza, and politicians such as Wesley Bell often come under fire over the issue.
