Reddit user Oasis_Jas posted to r/doordash with a plain and simple headline: “Dasher Threw My Drink at me.” Why the Dasher did this is anyone’s guess, but Jas felt as though being assaulted by a fast-food drink at work wasn’t well-deserved.
The female driver doing Jas’s order had called her to confirm the pickup location, which was the parking lot of OP’s workplace. The DoorDash driver claimed she was confused, so Jas says she went out to the gate to meet her. Then suddenly, the order was marked as complete, and the driver went quiet, not answering any texts or calls. What happened within the next thirty seconds was a shocker.
“She pulls into the parking lot points to me and asks if I’m waiting for a DoorDash. I say yes, she then says “here take this [expletive]” and literally throws my drink at me.” For anyone curious, Jas clarifies what the order was: “This was from Smoothie King they had NOTHING to actually execute other than the delivery.”
Some Redditors accused OP of not tipping, though she claims that wasn’t the case. “These people are a little wild, but even then YES I DID TIP! So am I less deserving of a drink being thrown at me?” she questioned. Luckily, she claims to have caught the drink, so it didn’t make a mess or anything of the sort. As to whether Jas actually took things to the authorities, she says she wasn’t injured, so she felt there was little reason to make a police report. “I’m more shocked than hurt. It was so random,” she wrote in a comment. That being said, this was definitely a delivery experience with DoorDash she would not be forgetting soon.
