A woman in Missouri was overwhelmed with emotion after she received a gift from her neighbor, whom she has continuously gifted outfits for his porch goose. A wholesome clip turned into a heartbreaking one, as she found out that the neighbor had actually passed away.
TikToker Emma Lou shared her initial excitement via a viral clip. She, a sewing influencer, explained that she has repeatedly gifted porch goose outfits to an elderly couple who lived two blocks from her. While crying, she added that they had found her house and left a bag with items. Apparently, her own decorated porch goose was how they located her.
However, as soon as she opened the bag, the mood suddenly shifted. The Missouri woman opened a card and found out that the elderly couple had died, calling over her husband, Joseph, to accompany her amid the tragic revelation. Apparently, the bag had been left by the couple’s daughter, who also included a letter addressed to Emma.
“Dear goose friend, we wanted to let you know that the goose owner passed away earlier this month,” the letter read. According to the letter, the goose was a gift the man’s wife received back in the early 1990s as a Mother’s Day present. She kept the lawn ornament “well-clothed” until her passing in 2018. This was all news to the Missouri TikToker, who bawled her eyes out while reading about the elderly couple.
A Man’s Final Moments With A Clothed Goose
Very fond of his goose, the elderly man’s last months were filled with joy as Emma routinely dressed his possession with handmade outfits, the letter continued. Her gesture moved him so much that he involved his grandchildren, telling them to dress the goose in the outfits.
As a thank you, the family gifted Emma a photo of the clothed goose and a cookbook. This, of course, just made the Missouri woman even more emotional, as tears continued to roll down her cheeks.
Emma’s clip went viral, garnering more than half a million likes and close to 20,000 comments. Everyone, just like her, was crying over the sad news of the couple’s passing.
“I’ve never cried so hard,” one user said. Another commented, “I’m bawling, and I have no clue what a porch goose even is.” A third commenter added, “I was smiling so hard and then immediately gasped and started weeping.”
It appears that the now-orphaned goose will leave the neighborhood to be with the elderly couple’s family. Thankfully for Emma, she now has a porch goose memory that will last forever, all thanks to her kindness.
