Indie games over the past several years have gained a reputation as a unique art form. Where big-budget titles mostly focus on refining already established concepts, indie titles use their small scale and budget to create something truly unique. For me, Zachtronics takes that one step further. Their games are tailored to strategy fans but have that extra level of uniqueness to them you can’t find anywhere else. One of their titles, Hacknet, is a sleeper hit for me in fact. With their most recent title MOLEK-SYNTEZ behind them, the team is nearly ready to show off their next title. Mobius Front ’83 releases on November 5 on PC through Steam. You can find the intriguing reveal trailer below.
What is Mobius Front ’83?
Mobius Front ’83 drops you into 1983, as a commander of the American Armed Forces. Mysterious blobs have shown up all over the country, with only death and destruction pouring out of them. Who are their adversaries, you may ask? America. In Mobius Front ’83, America must fight the only offensive force that can directly match them, themselves. As the commander, you must not only eliminate the occupying forces but also figure out how any of this makes sense. How and why could there be a second America, let alone a hostile one?
In Mobius Front ’83, you take a birds-eye view of the battlefield with control over various forces. You’ll take turns moving your units forward and attacking, looking to exploit your opponent’s every move. When your opponent knows your tactics though, what can you do to defeat them? It promises to be a complex and interesting title, one, unlike any turn-based game you’ve played before it.
While I’m not a big turn-based fan myself, Mobius Front ’83 seems to be taking an interesting approach. With how unique its premise is, I’m excited to see how Zachtronics takes advantage of this fresh setting. I’d like to hear your thoughts though. What do you think of Mobius Front ’83? Will you be trying it out? Let me know in the comments below!
