We had previously heard reports that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will come to Xbox Game Pass sometime soon. Turns out, the rumors and reports were true. Xbox just confirmed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is officially coming to Game Pass on 24 July 2024.
Anyone who is subscribed to the Console, PC, or Ultimate tier of Xbox Game Pass will get access to Modern Warfare 3. This will be the first Call of Duty game to come to a subscription service, and the upcoming Black Ops 6 will be a day-one launch title on Xbox Game Pass as well. Black Ops 6 releases on October 25, 2024.
Microsoft increased the price of each tier of Xbox Game Pass a few weeks ago and also introduced a cheaper Standard subscription tier that skips day-one releases. According to Phil Spencer, the growth of Game Pass has stagnated, so this price increase isn’t exactly a shock.
Xbox has even mentioned the possibility of more tiers being introduced for Xbox Game Pass subscribers. This might include cloud-only tiers, an ad-supported tier, and possibly even the return of the Family subscription option. When the Family tier was launched, it was limited to a few countries and might be an option internationally in the future.
In an attempt to increase the number of Game Pass subscribers with the falling sales numbers, Microsoft partnered up with Amazon and brought the Xbox App to Fire TV sticks. Allowing people to play Xbox games through the cloud without owning a console. But this is only available to those who are subscribed to the Ultimate tier.
If you missed it, Xbox revealed the first wave and the second wave of games coming to Xbox Game Pass in July, and Modern Warfare 3 is just the cherry on top of an already strong month.
